# Social listening API: export the comments on Instagram, YouTube, Reddit and LinkedIn posts as data

Give your agent a post URL on Instagram, a video on YouTube, a thread on Reddit or a post on LinkedIn and get the comments back as rows: author, text, likes, time, replies. 7 providers across the four platforms answer through one treg.to key, each at its own rate with $0.000 added, from a fraction of a cent per call, and on YouTube the official API is free on the Google account you already have. This is the raw material of social listening, not the dashboard: the rows come back and your agent does the reading.

## What's the best way to ask ChatGPT?

Setup line (paste into any agent): `set up treg — https://treg.to/llms.txt`

Then ask: "Using treg, get every comment on these three Instagram posts and this YouTube video, show me the price per platform first, then group the comments into questions, complaints and praise, quote the three most upvoted in each group with a link, and tell me how many comments you actually fetched per post."

- **Give the post, not the account** Every row here takes one post, video or thread and returns its comments. Comments by one user across many posts is a different job and no row here does it.
- **Ask for the price per platform** The four platforms are priced separately and the units differ: per call, per result, per found. Four posts is a worst case before anything runs.
- **Ask for the groups, not the dump** Three thousand comments is not an answer. The forty that matter are, and that is what the agent is for.
- **Ask how many it fetched** Comments paginate. A provider that returns the first page and stops is a partial read that looks complete unless the count is on the table.

## Why go through treg.to

- **No code to write** Connect once, keep the token server side, and call from any agent.
- **Nothing to integrate** No SDK, no OAuth dance per vendor, no seats.

## Behind the scenes: what ChatGPT sees before it calls

treg.to does not choose for you. It hands ChatGPT this comparison and it picks, or you tell it how.

### What do comments cost, per platform?

- Cheapest per found: TikHub at $0.001 (`tikhub.x.reddit-app-fetch-post-comments`)
- Cheapest per result: Bright Data at $0.0015 (`brightdata.x.instagram-comments`)
- Cheapest per call: ScrapeCreators at $0.00188 (`scrapecreators.instagram.post.comments`)

Those units are not interchangeable: one call can return many results, so compare on the unit you will actually be billed in.

### Which comment API is the most reliable?

- ScrapeCreators: 100% over 330 calls, 2.8s median
- TikHub: 100% over 6 calls, 3.3s median

Measured on treg.to traffic; not a controlled benchmark.

## What people actually struggle with

Of the ~210 Reddit and X posts read in August 2026 about seventy were on the job, and eleven vendor clusters were excluded, including one coordinated push across seven X accounts and one post with a word joiner hidden inside its words. These five are people trying to read comments, not sell a tool.

**The comments of one user, not one post**

> "Is there a way/tool to find all instagram comments of a particular user?" (r/OSINT, 17 points: https://www.reddit.com/r/OSINT/comments/zp45ym/is_there_a_waytool_to_find_all_instagram_comments/)

What this page can do about it: Not through any row on this page, and not through any provider in the catalog. The rows go post to comments. Saying so plainly is worth more than a page that lets an agent try and fail.

**Five hundred comments, without a subscription**

> "Looking for a free open-source tool to scrape Instagram comments (approx. 500)" (r/osinttools, 6 points: https://www.reddit.com/r/osinttools/comments/1txogbf/looking_for_a_free_opensource_tool_to_scrape/)

What this page can do about it: Not free, but close: five hundred Instagram comments is a handful of pages at a fraction of a cent each, from a prepaid balance that starts with a dollar of credit and no card. The open source route works until the platform changes; the paid row is somebody else's job to keep working.

**The fear is the ban, not the fetch**

> "How can I do a cron job that scrape likes and comments on Instagram without get banned" (r/DataHoarder: https://www.reddit.com/r/DataHoarder/comments/1qcdcg0/how_can_i_do_a_cron_job_that_scrape_likes_and/)

What this page can do about it: By not using your account. The paid rows here fetch public posts on the provider's side, so there is no session of yours to flag. What they cannot reach is a private account, and no row should be expected to.

**Three thousand comments, forty that matter**

> "a video with 3,000 comments might have 40 that are actually useful to me and the rest is noise" (r/claude, 3 points: https://www.reddit.com/r/claude/comments/1ragfjd/im_building_a_youtube_comment_filtering_tool_with/)

What this page can do about it: That is the whole design of the prompt on this page: fetch cheaply, then have the agent group and quote. The fetch is the commodity; the filtering is where the reader's own judgement, and the model, earn their keep.

**People do not say what a dashboard can count**

> "People won't say 'this product lacks value.' They'll say 'idk man feels overpriced for what it is'" (r/AIAgentsStack, 24 points: https://www.reddit.com/r/AIAgentsStack/comments/1q57jgj/anyone_else_realizing_social_listening_is_way/)

What this page can do about it: Which is the case for raw comments over a sentiment score. A keyword dashboard misses that sentence; an agent reading the rows does not. The rows are the cheap part, and they are what this page sells.

## What actually differs

- The four platforms are not the same job, and the prices say so. YouTube is the cheap one: TikHub at a tenth of a cent per successful call, and the official API free on your own Google account for any public video, ten thousand quota units a day at one unit per call. Instagram runs from TikHub, ScrapeCreators and Bright Data at fractions of a cent, with the official row free but limited to comments on your own posts. Reddit is priced like YouTube. LinkedIn is the dear one, from Aviato at two cents per found, and TikHub's LinkedIn row carries no published price yet, so the table prints none for it. All of it is the provider's own rate with $0.000 added.
- Units differ across the rows, so read the unit before the number. ScrapeCreators is per call, which on a post with a thousand comments means paginating and paying per page; Bright Data is per record delivered, so a thousand comments is a thousand records; TikHub and JustOneAPI are per successful call. The row labelled treg is the routed endpoint: the explicit opt in where you ask treg.to to choose among the providers for that platform, your own keys first, and it names the provider that served and bills that provider's rate. Every other row is a direct call and the choice is yours.
- What no row here does: comments by one user across many posts, which is the question the OSINT forums keep asking; comments on a private account; and any promise about your own LinkedIn or Instagram login, because none of these rows use one. A scraped LinkedIn post is public data fetched by the provider, and LinkedIn's terms are LinkedIn's. Several rows on the page have not been called live through treg.to yet and say unverified in the table: Bright Data on all three platforms, ScrapeCreators on Reddit, TikHub on LinkedIn. Run one post before an agent runs a thousand.

## What is a social listening API?

Strictly, it is the fetch step of social listening: a call that takes a post and returns the public comments under it as structured rows, so software can read them instead of a person scrolling. The listening suites sell the whole loop, monitoring, alerts, sentiment and a dashboard, by the seat. These rows sell the one part that is hard to build, getting the comments off the platform, per call, and leave the reading to your agent. On YouTube the official Data API does this for any public video on your own key. On Instagram the official API only reaches comments on posts you manage, which is why the paid rows exist: they fetch comments on anyone's public post. Reddit and LinkedIn have paid rows only.

## Questions

**Can I get all the comments a particular user has left?** No. Every row takes a post and returns its comments. There is no row that takes a username and returns everything they have written, on any of the four platforms, and this page will not pretend one exists.

**Does the official Instagram API do this for free?** Only on posts you manage. The Instagram row here is free on your own connected account and returns comments on your own posts. Comments on a competitor's post need one of the paid rows, which fetch any public post at a fraction of a cent.

**Is this a replacement for a social listening tool?** For the fetch, yes, and for cents rather than a seat. For the rest, no: there is no alerting, no dashboard and no case management here. The rows return comments, your agent reads them, and you decide what to build on top.

**Will my account get banned?** Nothing here uses your account except the two official rows, which use it the way the platform intends. The paid rows run on the provider's own infrastructure and return public data; treg.to holds the provider keys and you never log in anywhere.
